Chief Executive Officer

Brian Deck

Brian is a serial entrepreneur and passionate leader having founded, built and successfully exited multiple companies over the last 20 years. He has a thirst for innovation that solves business problems to make a positive impact on the world. Brian recognizes conditions in market that represent business opportunities and develops executable strategies and defensible models to realize profitable ventures. Solutions (such as HP Blue Carpet) developed by Brian and his companies are responsible for billions in customer sales.

Brian was exposed to business at an early age, growing up as the grandson of the Founder and son of Fran’s Restaurant President. He has studied at OCADU and MIT Sloan School of Business, is a black belt in Okinawan Gogu-Ryu Karate and enjoys running and cross-fit training.

Chief Strategy Officer

David Yellowlees

David has been a senior executive with a number of international companies, most recently Intrawest Corporation and Reebok International. Originally from the UK, he now lives in Toronto with his family. Never one to give up on a new adventure and always looking for a new horizon, as Co-Founder, Smooth Commerce, he’s very at home building new and exciting environments. When he’s not working you’ll find him keeping up with various sports, at concerts, traveling, or just out and about in his neighbourhood.

David Sorger

With a focus on business development, sales and marketing, David is a strategic problem solver who has held several C-level and executive positions in organizations across a number of industries.

David’s experience includes, President/CEO at Kingsmill Foods, partnering with organizations such as, Tim Horton’s, Nestle, Kraft and Second Cup, Chief Strategy Officer at ChannelAssist, leading programs for HP, Rogers and Toshiba, CEO of XMTrade.ca/OtolaneSoft Corporation, a leading mobile online auction platform for auto dealers and founding Sorger & Company Inc., a consulting practice with clients including, OTEC Research/GP8 Sportwater, Teaopia (acquired by Starbucks), XELA Enterprises and MTY Group.

In his spare time, David enjoys travel, food, trying to stay fit and living life to its fullest with close friends and family. 

Chief Technology Officer

Mike Rocha

Mike has been a technology professional for over a decade, spanning a variety of roles in software development, architecture and product management across multiple industries for companies large and small.  Mike has always been passionate about learning and embracing new technologies and solutions to complex problems. Born and raised in Toronto, Mike’s a close follower of all Toronto sports teams (even the bad ones), and spends his spare time playing Ultimate Frisbee and chasing after his two-year old son.

Mike Kostoff

Michael’s diverse background includes roles in marketing, communications and finance for businesses big and small. He has led media relations campaigns for companies such as Procter & Gamble, Woodbine Entertainment, Sunkist Growers and Hasbro toys.  He has been responsible for facilitating the bank financing needs for a portfolio of clients as varied as consumer products, mining, real estate, professional services, manufacturers, and non-profit organizations. And he has helped build out business plans and raise capital for a wide range of early-stage investment interests.   

In his spare time, Michael enjoys live sporting events, dining out (too much), and is an avid skier.

Rick Kostoff

Rick is a Canadian financial services professional with over 40 years of experience in the investment industry. Rick is the principal of Templar Investments – a consulting and advisory firm located in Toronto – and the Founder and Chair of Temple Rock Holdings Inc., an investment interest with a portfolio of more than 15 early stage companies. He is the retired Deputy Chair of TD Securities where he was responsible for senior capital markets coverage related to a wide variety of government, infrastructure, and corporate financing assignments.

Rick brings to Smooth Commerce long-standing relationships at the senior levels of the Canadian investment and business community and is actively involved with the senior management team in business development and financing activities.

Don Brommet

Don brings to Smooth Commerce nearly 40 years of entrepreneurial and corporate experience, both domestic and international, primarily in the fields of performance management, loyalty and incentives.  Don was VP, Incentive Solutions at Pareto Corporation, President of Elevate Incentives (a JV between Pareto and Aeroplan Income Trust), President/Director of Maritz International ($300M operating in 9 countries) and was founder and CEO of Partners in Performance before it was acquired by Maritz.

Currently Don acts an advisor, consultant and coach in the loyalty space and is on the Advisory Board of Ryerson University.

Lily Lam

Lily is Board Observer from the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE). She has over 15 years of experience in an entrepreneurial venture capital firm deploying assets in the biotechnology, green technology and IT sectors. She bridges communication between business, government and scientific thought leaders. As an executive with academic and professional success, she has a passion for applying her scientific background and transaction experience to help start-up companies grow and navigate the fundraising markets.
