In 2013 Smooth Commerce (then known as SmoothPay) was founded with the vision of using ground-breaking mobile technology to transform commerce and customer engagement in the retail marketplace. While there were some solutions addressing different aspects of the customer-merchant interactions, no other platform served the needs of merchants and consumers like Smooth Commerce. The vision was to build a flexible and scalable platform to serve small and large merchants in multiple markets across the world.

The Smooth Commerce technology first launched in 2014 under the SmoothPay brand. The SmoothPay app allowed merchants to accept mobile payments, provide offers and loyalty rewards, all with one scan of a mobile device. SmoothPay was welcomed with great enthusiasm from end users, merchants, press and industry partners. Early adopters raved about how convenient and easy it was to pay and collect rewards at their favourite coffee shops and restaurants. Smooth Commerce found great success in getting the attention and working with leading industry giants (card brands, payment acquirers, POS providers, gift and loyalty players, marketing platforms, and sales channel partners).

Led by a team of experts in marketing, technology, payments, loyalty, retail and finance, the Company revealed (in 2015) a comprehensive enterprise-class platform, designed to be custom configured and branded to retailer specifications. Later that year, Smooth Commerce announced staydium, a solution that specifically addresses the needs of stadiums and arenas.

In 2016, the Company rebranded as Smooth Commerce to better represent the company’s suite of offerings.

Smooth Commerce now offers the most complete mobile commerce and engagement functionality for multi-location regional and national operators in multiple verticals including QSR, convenience, grocery, gas station, general retail, and arenas & stadiums.

Today, with a rapidly growing merchant customer base, the backing of world class partners and the most dynamic team that’s continuously enhancing the offering, Smooth Commerce is positioned to capture market share and revolutionize the way consumers and businesses interact.
